Gilbert Plains Recreation Department
Our Mission
"To enhance the quality of life for all residents in the Municipality of Gilbert Plains, through the provision of recreational facilities, activities and in the expansion of tourism to Gilbert Plains.” The Gilbert Plains Recreation Department is governed by a Board which is comprised of Municipal Council. Recreation Services is administered by the Recreation Director. Numerous programs are offered throughout the year. Please see the Recreation Event Calendar for current programs and activities.
Community Recreation
The Gilbert Plains Recreation Department works closely with several User Groups as well as the schools in Gilbert Plains and surrounding communities. These include Grand Plains Minor Hockey, Gilbert Plains Fitness Centre Inc., Gilbert Plains Museum & Info Centre, Centennial Park, Gilbert Plains Historical Society, Gilbert Plains Curling Club & Heartland Lanes.
There are a number of community recreational facilities:
- Gilbert Plains Recreation Complex, with curling rink and skating rink
- Baseball diamonds
- Tennis courts
- Outdoor gun range
- Playgrounds (Gilbert Plains Elementary School & Centennial Park)
- Gilbert Plains Skateboard Park
- Heartland Lanes
- Cross-country ski trails
- Drop-In Centre (55+)
- Fitness Centre
